It's something you should join! BASICALLY, modern computers are awesome machines with tons of power that goes idle most of the time while we use them for writing emails or, um, reading comics. This software lets you use those idle cycles to do Actual Science: protein folding, running simulations working on cures for AIDS or cancer, and so on. It's free and runs in the background and lets you know that you're helping to cure diseases while you sleep, which is <i>pretty awesome</i>, I gotta say. <P> Anyway you should join! <a href="http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/team/viewTeamInfo.do?teamId=412W2GKRLR1">The Dinosaur Comics team</a> is the <a href="https://secure.worldcommunitygrid.org/stat/viewStatsByTeamAT.do?sort=currentMembers">10th biggest team on the network</a>, beating out teams for Ubuntu Linux and also THE ENTIRE NATION OF FRANCE. That plotline: a Star Trek story that involves the USS UberEnterprise (NCC-1701-&#8734;, a 250 km sphere of liquid metal), under the joint command of Kirk AND Picard, in the year 1012260. And the UberEnterprise can transform into the shape of any previous Enterprise. And all humanity has evolved into energy beings. And I don't want to spoil it so just read the plot summary! <P> Anyway it's basically amazing and I've thought about it and this story is now my Personal Canon for how Star Trek ends. So in case you're wondering, Star Trek ends like that, with everyone living inside a T-1000. September 7th, 2010: As I'm writing this we are just 38 people away from beating the FRENCH ALLIANCE in "most people working to cure terrible diseases". I think we still have 38 awesome people here who haven't yet decided to join us! I hope that my boasts to the French around me that a bunch of handsome AND/OR beautiful comic readers can beat their entire nation were not ill advised. 38 dudes or ladies! YOU CAN TOTALLY PULL THIS ONE OUT.

Happy Labour Day! Dinosaur Comics returns Tuesday.
Join our distributed computing team in the meantime?

← previousSeptember 3rd, 2010next

September 3rd, 2010: Wow, we got a lot of new members on the Dinosaur Comics distributed computing team! And we've moved from #10 to #9. And I was all bragging yesterday about how our team has more members than the entire nation of France's team, BUT - just above us is "L'Alliance Francophone" with about eight hundred more members than us. I don't want to make this an "us verses the French Alliance" thing but um that's sort of what it is already. So if you didn't sign up yesterday, do it today! Your computer can help cure cancer too, that is a feature of this as well.

September 2nd, 2010: Down beneath the comic, even below these very words, there's a section called "big ups and shouts out" where I link to the Dinosaur Comics distributed computing team. It's free and runs in the background and lets you know that you're helping to cure diseases while you sleep, which is pretty awesome, I gotta say.

Anyway you should join! The Dinosaur Comics team is the 10th biggest team on the network, beating out teams for Ubuntu Linux and also THE ENTIRE NATION OF FRANCE. Hah! Too bad, France!!

September 1st, 2010: I said before on Twitter that everyone can stop writing fan fiction, because the ultimate fan fiction plotline has been achieved. That plotline: a Star Trek story that involves the USS UberEnterprise (NCC-1701-∞, a 250 km sphere of liquid metal), under the joint command of Kirk AND Picard, in the year 1012260. And the UberEnterprise can transform into the shape of any previous Enterprise. And all humanity has evolved into energy beings. And I don't want to spoil it so just read the plot summary!

Anyway it's basically amazing and I've thought about it and this story is now my Personal Canon for how Star Trek ends. So in case you're wondering, Star Trek ends like that, with everyone living inside a T-1000. THE END

August 30th, 2010: Webcomics Weekend is this November 6th and 7th in Easthampton Mass and it promises to be super excellent: it's a show featuring all webcomics, and as I suspect you to be a reader of webcomics, you might well enjoy it. I'm totally going, and you can get tickets here!

I'm in the Kitchener-Waterloo area and someone - or someONES - here is an awesome knitter. I've seen knit socks made for parking lot poles (adorable!) and just yesterday I saw that someone had knit enough to cover an entire telephone pole, which was amazing!

Knitters in the Kitchener-Waterloo area, to you I say: good work.

August 25th, 2010: Okay so some Australians emailed me saying that by the time my comic comes out the date of the comic is over for them, so today if you messed up Monday and Tuesday (and possibly Wednesday) I'd like you to have an excellent THURSDAY. Australians: you need to bring your A game here. If I hear reports of bad Thursdays in Australia I will be extremely disappointed. You will have disappointed a guy who has his own website.

August 19th, 2010: Normally I link to webcomics I like here, but my friend Zub is starting a print comic (I KNOW) and it's good too! It's called Skull Kickers and while you can see some preview pages there, the only way to read the whole book is to go down to your comic shop and ask them to get it for you. So you should do that! It's a fun AND beautiful book and it opens up with a fat werewolf and if that doesn't convince you I don't know WHAT will

August 18th, 2010: Hey, remember this comic I wrote in 2005? It is about a machine that predicts how you're going to die. After I wrote it I got a bunch of emails saying "This is awesome; do something with this!" and I said "OKAY" and then didn't really do much. Then Malki and Bennardo contacted me and said "Dude it's been months, what if WE ALL did something with this" and I said "Much better!" and then they went ahead and we did a collection of short stories and they did most of the work.

But now it's 2010 and that means it's time to publish this book! Check out this cover. Check out this list of stories and authors. Then we thought, you know what would make this book better? Illustrations for every story! Check out this list of illustrators, you guys. This is an amazing book and it's going to be really exciting to hold it in our hands in October!

PROBABLY I IMAGINE SO DEFINITELY HUH but if you're not tired of looking at it, Emily Horne was Official Wedding Photographer and also Friend at the wedding and she put some of the photos up on Flickr!
